  1. In a bowl, combine eggs and milk. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to egg mixture and beat with electric mixer until smooth. (Check to see if mixture flows easily).
  2. In a large skillet heat oil to 360F.
  3. Covering the end of a small funnel with your finger, pour batter into hot oil in a spiral shape. Fry till golden (about 3 minutes) using tongs to turn. Cook 1 minute more.
  4. Drain on paper bag covered with a paper towel. Sprinkle with cinnamon and powdered sugar or serve with maple syrup.
  5. Delicious!

Sauce:
  1. Melt butter, add flour & cook, stirring 1 min.
  2. Slowly add milk in stream, stirring continuously till sauce is smooth & thick.
  3. Add beer & continue stirring till foam disappears.
  4. Add cheddar, stir till melted.
  5. Cook till heated through.
  6. Season sauce with salt & pepper.
Main
  1. Bring water to boil in large pot.
  2. Add Cabbage, Celery, Caraway and cook until tender. (About 20 minutes)
  3. Transfer to buttered 2 qt casserole and pour sauce over.
  4. Heat at 350ËšF for 30 min.

  1. Preheat oven to 400Ëš F.
  2. Prick eggplant with a fork in 10-12 places and rub with olive oil. Bake uncovered for about an hour, or until the pulp feels quite soft.
  3. Scoop out the pulp and place in a small saucepan. Add lemon juice and cook over medium heat until the water has evaporated - about 5 minutes.
  4. Saute the onion in butter. Blend enough of the flour into make a thick roux, then add milk slowly to form a thick sauce. Beat lightly into the eggplant.
  5. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
  6. Add the Parmesan cheese and a few drops of warm milk if dip is too thick.
  7. Store overnight in the refrigerator but bring to room temperature before serving with crackers, bagel chips, or strips of crisped pita.

  1. Preheat oven to 350Ëš
  2. Stir together the yeast and 1/4 cup of warm water. Let stand about 5 minutes.
  3. Mix together 1 cup flour, sugar, and salt until well blended.
  4. Add the yeast mixture, 1 egg, and milk until well blended.
  5. Add the butter, 1 tablespoon at a time until combined.
  6. Add enough of the remaining flour to the dough until it is no longer sticky.
  7. Place the dough in a well greased bowl, turning over to coat all of the dough. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about an hour or until the dough has doubled in size.
  8. Punch down dough and divide it into fourths. Shape each fourth into 6 1 inch balls. Place the balls of dough on a lightly greased 13 X 9 inch pan. Let rest 1 hour.
  9. Mix together 1 tablespoon of water, and the other egg, brush on top of the rolls, and sprinkle with the sesame or poppy seeds.
  10. Bake in a 350 degree preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Rolls may be frozen up to about 3 months.

  1. Blanch the tomatoes until skin comes loose, then skin, seed, and chop coarsely.
  2. Saute onion in butter a few minutes, then add all ingredients except the milk and cream.
  3. Simmer for about 25 minutes, and remove the cloves.
  4. Transfer to a blender or food processor, and puree. Add half and half, and the milk. (If preparing before-hand, put aside in the refrigerator at this point.)
  5. Heat up in a saucepan and sprinkle chives on top before serving.

  1. Peel and seed tomatoes.
  2. Saute onion in butter and add the chopped tomatoes. Add bay leaf, sugar, cloves, salt, pepper and basil. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until tomatoes are thoroughly cooked, about 25 minutes.
  3. Remove bay leaf and cloves and transfer mixture to blender or food processor to puree.
  4. Strain. Add cream and milk and heat through.
  5. Serve topped with toasted buttered croutons. Sprinkle with chopped chives.

  1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.
  2. Lay the bread on a flat work surface. Spread 4 slices with a heaping tablespoon of cream cheese, and top each with the remaining slices of bread.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, brown sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon.
  4. Place the bread flat in a casserole dish and cover with the egg mixture. Let soak* for 5 to 10 minutes.
  5. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Melt 2 tablespoons of the butter in the pan. Add as many slices of soaked bread to the pan as will fit in 1 layer, and cook until golden brown, about 4 minutes per side.
  6. Remove from the pan, place on a baking sheet and keep warm in the oven.
  7. Melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter in the pan and cook the remaining bread.
  8. Sprinkle the French toast with powdered sugar and serve immediately with syrup.
Recipe Notes
  • NOTE: If using fresh bread, do not soak longer than 5 minutes, as the bread will get too soggy.

  1. Cream butter and brown sugar in bowl until light and fluffy. Blend in sweet potato and eggs one at a time. Add next 6 ingredients; mix well.
  2. Pour into pie shell. Bake in a 425 degree oven for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 325 degrees and bake 35 to 45 minutes longer or until well set.
